The growing market in power supply and drive technology requires cost-effective and robust power electronic converters for UPS and stationary battery storage systems.
As a result, scientists from Fraunhofer IEE togehter with industrial partners have developed a new 100 kVA power electronics stack with standard B6 bridge circuit, new silicon carbide half-bridge modules, new magnetic devices, 48 kHz switching frequency, efficiencies of over 98 % at half weight and volume.
The power electronics experts at the Fraunhofer IEE in Kassel focused on compact design and robust operation. With a speciell low inductance design, up to ten times higher switching frequency compared to today's 5-20 kHz with the standard B-6 bridge circuit is now possible at this power.
